David did not speak against Saul the king, God’s anointed, even when Saul tried to kill him.
Stephen did not revile those stoning him to death but asked God to forgive them for they know not what they do.
Jesus did not revile or threaten his tormentors on the cross.
We are taught in spiritual warfare to not bringing a reviling accusation against the devil but to say: “The Lord rebuke you.”
We become the Light of the World by radiating God’s glory, abiding and walking in the light through love and fellowship, turning people from darkness to light, following Jesus, believing in Him as sons of light, purifying our vision, and shining before men so they glorify our Father; like a light emission spectrum, God imparts energy that changes our inner configuration, breaks limits, and releases Christ-likeness through friction, flow, suffering, and glory.
David accessed divine technology for giant slaying through the Lord’s name, the sling, the smooth stones, and the shepherd’s bag.
Jesus asks the question slightly differently: ‘are you my friend and do you actually like doing something for me that I ask you to do – as a friend would?’ It also gives the picture of a bridegroom who sends his friend to ask the hand of his beloved in marriage and to secure that marriage deal for him.
On the other side of the wilderness is life changing ministry. For those who maintain a right spirit through the wilderness there is a Promised Land of partaking in the ministry of Jesus and the favour of the Lord!
