Become a Soul Winner

He who wins souls is wise, because it is an eternal investment in living souls. Souls are eternal. They return to God who gave them. We are spirits that live in a body and we have a soul to take care of. When God created the first man, Adam, God breathed into his nostrils and he became a living soul. When we get born again by faith in Jesus Christ, we receive a new spirit: the Holy Spirit.

You work with God to extend His kingdom when you win souls for Christ. You have to make up your mind to become a soul winner. You need wisdom to win souls. God will give you wisdom to win souls if you ask Him for such wisdom.

Jesus told His disciples: ‘I will make you fishers of men.’ Winning souls is like fishing. You have to have the right bait and hook to catch a fish. You need the right approach to win a soul for Christ.

When Jesus sat at the well of Samaria (Jacob’s well) he asked a woman to give him some water because he had nothing to draw water with. She was surprised and asked why He spoke to her because Jews and especially Jewish Rabbi’s did not speak to Samaritan women.

Jesus threw out the bait: ‘if you knew who is speaking to you then you would ask him to give you living water so that you will never thirst again.’ This got her full attention!

Then he developed a desire in her for this living water until she asked him for it! Read the story in John 4. The woman invited the whole town to come to hear Jesus and they believed in Him because they heard Him for themselves. From one soul to a whole town!

I once preached to a whole town: in Yulamambri, New South Wales. The whole town came to hear me preach! Who can say that? But what I need to add is that there were only 23 people living in the little town near Coonaburrabran! I knocked on each door of the few houses and cleaned out an old wooden town hall built on stilts because of regular floods and invited them all to come to the afternoon meeting. They all came including a visitor from a nearby town. He was blind. He was the only one that accepted Christ Jesus as his savior when I gave an altar call!

The next day I preached in a Catholic School in Coonaburrabran and the whole school gave their hearts to the Lord including some teachers! There were 171 souls saved!

Nola and I counted over 3 300 souls saved in Australia during our mission to Australia!

As a young man I hired town halls on the Witwatersrand, today it is called Gauteng, where I either showed Christian Films for Go-Tell Communications or held a Jesus Festival with a few Christian bands. We would see hundreds of souls saved.

My first missionary experience was with Pastor Kantor in Kwa-Zulu Natal. I worked among the Indian population from Stanger down to Margate! I’d go to the sugar plantations and show Christian Films in the subsidized home areas against a building wall and give altar calls in the dark. Hundreds of Indians got saved.

In Johannesburg, especially in Hillbrow, we would do street ministry and see many souls saved. I did street work in Mexico, America and in the Netherlands as a young man and saw many people saved.

Throughout my life as a missionary I have seen souls saved in just about every nation I have been to. And I have been to 115 nations by now. I hope to go to all the nations of the world in my life.

I have become a soul winner!

How do you win souls? You tell them about Jesus and if they accept Jesus as their Lord & Saviour they will be saved! It is as simple as ABC: accept the good news that Jesus died for your sins; believe that Jesus saves you from your sins and grants you eternal life; confess your sins and then confess that Jesus is your Lord from now on and serve Him by going to a church where they preach the whole truth as found in the Bible. That’s it!

There is no method, no formula, no deception: you simple tell people the truth and ask them if they want to accept it!

‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.’ (John 3:16)

‘If you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, you shall be saved, for with the heart we believe unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.’ (Romans 10:9&10)

Once you accept Jesus as Lord you need to be baptized in water as a believer and then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues and glorifying God like the disciples did when the Holy Spirit was poured out as described in Acts 2.

Decide to become a soul winner today. Talk to people about Jesus, tell them how wonderful He is, how He loves them, how He proved His love by dying for them, and how God raised Jesus from the dead!
